Land/Sea/Sky: Cyanotype Flags at PhotoNOLA

Land/Sea/Sky: Cyanotype Flags, an installation in celebration of World Cyanotype Day, is on view in a PhotoNOLA exhibition at the New Orleans Healing Center, 2372 Saint Claude Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117, from December 1, 2019 through March 1, 2010.

The installation consists of flags made by more than 300 artists for last September’s World Cyanotype Day celebration at A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, TX, joined with additional flags made in New Orleans. Strung together, the flags symbolize the beautiful planet we all inhabit.

I contributed this flag.

There will be an opening reception on Saturday, Dec 14, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Exhibit hours are daily from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Exquisite Little Things at Gray Loft Gallery

Three of my photographs, including The return of the light, are included in the Exquisite Little Things exhibition at Gray Loft Gallery.

Passage at Niza Knoll Gallery

My untitled photograph, from the series Passage, is included in a juried exhibition of the same name, sponsored by the Colorado chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art.

EBPCO Members' Exhibition at Panorama Framing

My photograph, “The goodbye dialogues,” is included in the EBPCO Members’ Exhibition.

The exhibition is hosted by Panorama Framing at 3350 Grand Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610. It runs from November 8 through December 31, 2019. Update, 12/28/19: extended through January 7, 2020.

There will be an opening reception on Friday, November 8, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

EBPCO (the East Bay Photo Collective) is a group of photographers in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area working together to create a community photo center, which will include a gallery, workshops, darkrooms, and other facilities. EBPCO’s mission mission is to provide facilities, education, inspiration, and community to East Bay photographers, including those who are under-served or lack access to a creative community.

Kindred Spirits at Gray Loft Gallery

I’m honored to have my work included in Kindred Spirits – a group show of analog photography at Gray Loft Gallery, curated by Jan Watten.  The exhibit features the work of Bay Area photographers and includes images from a wide array of traditional and alternative photographic processes – including pinhole photography, images made with Polaroid and plastic cameras, tin-types, and other film-based works.  This exhibit is a celebration of film. and embraces the unexpected and treasured qualities of this medium.

Somerville Toy Camera Festival at Brickbottom Gallery

My photograph, “Wholeness of the heart/The heart of wholeness,” from the series The maybe lakes, is included in the Somerville Toy Camera Festival exhibition at Brickbottom Gallery.

World Cyanotype Day 2019

September 28, 2019 is World Cyanotype Day! This year’s theme is Land/Sea/Sky. I’m participating from afar with this piece:

“Most ancient peoples had no word for the color blue. They could not explain the sky nor the ocean. Poetry and love letters suffered. Once "blue" entered the world the earth rattled and chimed, sending forth "turquoise" and "sapphire." The Navajo and the Jewelers rejoiced. Poets wept. Picasso danced and Policemen beamed. Mary smiled.

Everyone in the world is cordially invited to celebrate World Cyanotype Day at A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas on Saturday, September 28 by creating cyanotype flags of their interpretation of Land/Sea/Sky on white cloth, each 12×12 inches (30×30) cm. Strung together, the flags symbolize the beautiful planet we all inhabit. If you would like to participate in the A Smith Gallery flag installation, please send your flags to the gallery. We also invite you to celebrate with your friends wherever you find yourself on September 28, World Cyanotype Day.

4th Annual Alternative Process Photography Exhibition at The Image Flow

Inaugural at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

My photograph, "Somewhere in another world," from the series Transitional landscapes, is included in Mother F-Stop's first exhibition, titled Inaugural.

The exhibition will take place at SAMple Gallery, located on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's campus in Hanes Art Center, at 121 E. Cameron Avenue, room 224, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

It features photographs from portfolios published on the Mother F-Stop website during its first three years. Exhibition dates are April 1 through April 12, 2019, coinciding with the university's Arts Everywhere month.
